How to make a ‘Messy Bun’ in 5 minutes

Sorry to disappoint, the Messy Bun is not a recipe, it’s a hairdo…
We had a black tie event on Saturday and I was wearing a long floaty dress that required a “hair-up-do” to match. But who has time to wash AND style hair these days? Or (ideal scenario) visit the hairdressers for a few hours of styling and relaxing? I don’t. So I decided to youtube/Google myself a ‘fancy hairdo’ and ended up watching Zoella’s How to Make a Messy Bun video and…. I managed to get my hair right first time round! And I am not that handy or creative with these sorts of thing. The Messy Bun is truly very easy; it took me five minutes tops.
A few things that are good to know before you start attempting the Messy Bun:
You don’t need to wash your hair, it actually works best on hair that’s one or two days old (bonus!). To get some extra grip you can add a bit of dry shampoo too. I think it works best on long to medium long hair that is not too heavy or thick. I did my hair around 4pm and it was still in place around midnight! You can make it as messy or non messy as you like; mine was more like a “Fancy Bun” (as in picture 5) rather than a Messy Bun, but the principles are the same. It’s a great hairdo for a party, but also for a random week day when you don’t have time to wash your hair and still want to look respectable.
